Software Analytics and Pervasive Parallelism Lab
SwAPP Lab - Ali Jannesari

The convergence of high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping modern applications and driving new paradigms in software development. As data volumes and analytical complexity continue to grow, applications increasingly demand greater computational power. This raises important questions: how can HPC applications leverage emerging software development trends, and how can HPC enable the efficient processing of massive datasets to unlock new classes of AI applications?
The Laboratory for Software Analytics and Pervasive Parallelism, led by Ali Jannesari in the Department of Computer Science at Iowa State University, explores the fundamental challenges and opportunities arising primarily from answering these research questions. We primarily work at the intersection of HPC and AI. Our mission is to push the state of the art in building reliable, efficient, and scalable software by integrating AI, parallel computing, and HPC. Through our work, we enable developers to effectively harness modern heterogeneous parallel computing platforms, empowering the development of complex applications in high-impact domains such as data science and HPC.
